Many readers, including myself, found the initial world-building intriguing, and the setup hinted at a potentially complex narrative. The main character, Claudia, is generally likeable, and her efforts to forge connections despite facing constant negativity resonated with me. ### Areas of Concern ⚠️ **Spoiler Warning** ⚠️ My biggest issue, and one echoed by many other readers, revolves around a major plot point: Claudia's skin color changing due to the Light Spirit King's blessing. This shift felt like a betrayal of the initial premise. The fact that her appearance change led to sudden acceptance and even admiration felt deeply problematic. It undermined the message of overcoming prejudice and instead seemed to suggest that assimilation through conforming to beauty standards was the only path to acceptance. Furthermore, the intelligence and actions of some characters, particularly the antagonist, Amelia, often felt cartoonish and illogical. This made it difficult to take the conflicts seriously and detracted from the overall narrative. The ending also felt rushed, with plot points resolved too quickly and without sufficient depth. ### Final Verdict "I'm Not a Villainess!!" had the potential to be a truly impactful story. Unfortunately, the execution falters in key areas, particularly concerning the handling of discrimination and the rushed conclusion. While the initial premise and translation quality are commendable, the problematic plot developments ultimately left me disappointed. I would give it a 2.5/5.
