Description

The main character, Luke, has been an adventurer for fifteen years, but he could only use the skill [Repair]. Because of that, he was known as the eternal rank E, third-rate adventurer. One day, Luke was hired for cheap by a hero’s party to do odd jobs, when he was forced to bear the consequences caused by the hero’s mistake, and was left behind in the labyrinth of a difficult-to-clear dungeon. Luke was prepared for death, but his [Repair] skill evolved during his survival from the brink of death, and Luke managed to escape. Now that Luke had returned alive, he decided to stop doing dangerous jobs and turned over a new leaf. Using his evolved [Repair] skill, Luke opened up a weapon shop for adventurers in a village with a small dungeon. He aimed for a slow life with his second life. His second life, where he lived quietly and comfortably! ……at least, that’s what he thought, when a major incident shaking the entire country appeared before Luke’s eyes…..?

My 【Repair】Skill Became an Almighty Cheat Skill, So I Thought I’d Open Up a Weapon Shop Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on My 【Repair】Skill Became an Almighty Cheat Skill, So I Thought I’d Open Up a Weapon Shop Okay, let's dive into "My 【Repair】Skill Became an Almighty Cheat Skill, So I Thought I’d Open Up a Weapon Shop." Yes, the title is a mouthful, and yes, it screams "generic isekai," but I went in with an open mind. After spending some time with it, here are my thoughts. ### First Impressions The initial chapters definitely hooked me. The premise of a betrayed adventurer with a "repair" skill deciding to start a blacksmith shop is intriguing. It sets up a world with potential, and I was curious to see how the MC would navigate his new life after being cast aside. However, that initial spark faded a bit as I progressed. ### What Works Well I appreciated the somewhat slower pace. The novel leans into the "slice of life" aspect, which, when done well, can be incredibly engaging. The MC's desire for a peaceful existence after a life of adventuring is relatable. Also, the author does a decent job of world-building, gradually revealing details through the MC's daily interactions and experiences. I particularly enjoyed the moments where the MC's past experiences and grudges added depth to his current relationships. The characters felt like they have motivations. They aren't just blank slates. ### Areas of Concern The biggest issue I had was the "repair" skill itself. It quickly evolves from simple repairs to a deus ex machina solution for every problem. It feels like the author forces it into situations where it doesn't quite fit, which can be frustrating. The lack of any real consequences for the MC's actions also made it hard to connect with him. He comes across as a bit of a pushover, even when falsely accused, which dampened my enthusiasm. I also found the slice-of-life elements lacking substance. The descriptions felt superficial, and I yearned for deeper exploration of the MC's emotional state and the world around him. ### Final Verdict "My 【Repair】Skill Became an Almighty Cheat Skill, So I Thought I’d Open Up a Weapon Shop" isn't a terrible novel, but it's not a standout either. It has moments of charm and potential, but ultimately falls short due to inconsistent writing and a reliance on convenient plot devices. If you're looking for a light, easy read with minimal conflict, this might scratch that itch. However, if you crave depth, complexity, or a truly unique story, you might want to look elsewhere. I'd give it a cautious recommendation, but be prepared for a potentially underwhelming experience.
