And as such he serves as a substitute for his late sister, who was to be the next empress. During this time, Ka country is invaded by the large army of the neighbouring Yoh country. Sekka ran away from the country dressed as the Imperial Princess, but was captured by the Emperor of Yoh country Ryuu Kishoh and had to enter the man’s harem as a princess. “If he learned that I am a man, I would be killed…” But just as he was feeling uneasy, he was ordered by Kishoh to spend a night with him…!?

Secret Nights In The Inner Palace Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Secret Nights In The Inner Palace "Secret Nights In The Inner Palace" is a whirlwind of a read, and I came away with very mixed feelings. It's definitely not a novel for the faint of heart, diving headfirst into mature themes and explicit content. My overall impression is that it's a story that delivers on its promises, but whether those promises appeal to you is another matter entirely. ### First Impressions From the very beginning, the story throws you into a chaotic world of warring kingdoms and political intrigue. The pacing is quick, wasting no time in setting up the central conflict and the initial, uh, *interactions* between the main characters. I was immediately struck by the quality of the translation; it made the story incredibly accessible and engaging. However, I also felt a sense of unease, knowing the direction the plot was heading. ### What Works Well The smut is undeniably a major draw for many readers, and I can see why. The author doesn't hold back, creating scenes that are both explicit and, at times, surprisingly tender. Beyond the steamy encounters, I appreciated the exploration of the MC's internal struggles. He grapples with his identity, his desires, and his feelings towards the ML, creating a complex and nuanced character, even if some found him frustratingly passive. The novel also explores the theme of body acceptance, which I found to be a refreshing and thought-provoking element. ### Areas of Concern However, my biggest issue, and one shared by many, is the central relationship itself. The ML's actions are undeniably reprehensible, and the MC's eventual feelings for him can feel forced and unearned. The specter of Stockholm Syndrome looms large, and it's difficult to reconcile the initial trauma with the eventual romance. I also felt that the plot could have been more fleshed out. With only seven chapters, certain aspects felt rushed and underdeveloped, leaving me wanting more depth and exploration. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Several reviews mention key plot points that could significantly impact your reading experience. Be warned that the following contains spoilers: The MC and ML end up together, despite the ML being responsible for the death of the MC's family and the destruction of his kingdom. The circumstances of their initial encounters involve non-con elements. ### Final Verdict "Secret Nights In The Inner Palace" is a complex and controversial novel. If you're looking for a straightforward romance with clear-cut heroes and villains, this isn't it. However, if you're willing to delve into morally grey areas and explore the complexities of desire, power, and trauma, you might find something to appreciate here. Just be prepared for a bumpy ride. I'd give it a tentative 3.5 out of 5 stars.
