Description

The Mitsurugi household was given the important task of guarding the demon gate by the emperor. Sora Mitsurugi, who was the heir of the family, was called on to take the trial ceremony at the age of thirteen. The trial is something that he must overcome in order to learn the phantom blade style that was passed down the Mitsurugi household from generation to generation. The other seven pupils of the same age who had taken the trial have all passed. And now only Sora remained. His father, brother, fiancee, and a pair of siblings who have watched over him were all looking, as Sora’s trial ceremony solemnly began… However, he failed that test, and was expelled from the island to survive on his own.

The Revenge of the Soul Eater (LN) Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on The Revenge of the Soul Eater (LN) Alright, let's dive into "The Revenge of the Soul Eater (LN)." This one's a bit of a mixed bag, and after reading through some initial reactions, I can see why. It's got some compelling elements, but also some aspects that might make you pause. ### First Impressions The premise definitely grabbed my attention: a betrayed protagonist seeking revenge. That's a classic setup, and I'm always interested to see how authors handle it. The early chapters are dedicated to backstory, which seems like a necessary evil to establish the MC's motivations. I'm told that the real action starts around Chapter 4, where the protagonist begins his counterattack. ### What Works Well What I appreciate most is the MC's intelligence and cunning. It sounds like he's not just blindly charging in; he's actually thinking things through, which is a huge plus in my book. The revenge itself is described as tailored and fitting, which suggests a nuanced approach rather than just mindless violence. I also like the idea of an anti-hero, someone who retains some semblance of morality even after experiencing betrayal. ### Areas of Concern However, I've spotted a few potential red flags. The level system seems a bit jarring, almost as if it's tacked on for convenience. I am also wary that the MC's supposed incompetence early on might be a bit hard to swallow. The idea that someone could be part of a guild for five years and not know the rules raises some eyebrows. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Okay, heads up, there's a potential spoiler ahead. It seems the MC's father is the one who banished him, and there's a reunion with a "big sister" figure where things get complicated. I'm hearing that the MC's reaction to this reunion might be a bit too tame for some readers' tastes, especially considering the circumstances. ### Final Verdict Overall, "The Revenge of the Soul Eater (LN)" has potential. The intelligent MC and tailored revenge are definite strengths. However, the level system and the MC's initial incompetence could be sticking points for some. It really boils down to personal preference. If you're a fan of anti-hero stories with a focus on calculated revenge and don't mind a potentially wonky level system, this might be worth checking out. Just be prepared for a potentially slow start and some character decisions that might leave you wanting more.
