The Simple Job of Only Perishing to the Hero Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on The Simple Job of Only Perishing to the Hero "The Simple Job of Only Perishing to the Hero" presents an intriguing premise: a reincarnation story where the protagonist is tasked with becoming the Demon King. I went in expecting a clever take on the genre, and while it had moments of brilliance, my overall experience was somewhat mixed. ### First Impressions Initially, I was hooked. The idea of a protagonist embracing his role as the Demon King, complete with scheming and a polite facade, was refreshing. The world-building seemed promising, and I was eager to see how the MC would build his kingdom. ### What Works Well I appreciated the novel's ambition. The early volumes, in particular, showcase the protagonist's cunning as he unites the demon continent. There's a clear emphasis on political maneuvering and information gathering, which I found more engaging than constant action sequences. The author attempts to create a morally grey world where characters have understandable motivations, adding depth to the narrative. Some readers have praised the world-building, noting that events happen in the background, making the world feel alive. ### Areas of Concern Unfortunately, the novel seems to stumble as it progresses. Several readers noted a decline in quality, particularly when the MC ventures to the human continent. His character appears to shift, losing the cunning and decisiveness that made him compelling. Many felt that the plot became convoluted, with excessive exposition and an overabundance of side character storylines that detract from the main narrative. The pacing also suffers, with some sections feeling rushed while others drag on unnecessarily. Some readers also pointed out inconsistencies in the magic system. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Several reviews mention that the MC, after establishing his kingdom, seemingly abandons it, which is a major point of contention. Additionally, some feel his intelligence diminishes, making his later decisions questionable. Be aware that these plot points may impact your enjoyment of the story. ### Final Verdict "The Simple Job of Only Perishing to the Hero" has potential, but its execution is uneven. While the initial volumes offer a refreshing take on the isekai genre with a clever protagonist and intriguing world-building, the later parts suffer from pacing issues, plot inconsistencies, and a decline in the MC's character. If you're looking for a story with a strong start and don't mind some flaws along the way, it might be worth a read. However, be prepared for a potentially frustrating experience as the story progresses. For me, it was a 3/5 star read.
