## My Thoughts on The Surgeon’s Studio
"The Surgeon's Studio" presents an intriguing premise: a modern-day surgeon with a system, navigating the complexities of hospital life. While the concept initially grabbed my attention, my journey through this novel has been a bit of a rollercoaster.
### First Impressions
I was immediately drawn to the idea of a slice-of-life medical drama with a system element. The promise of detailed surgical procedures and a peek into the world of medical professionals was definitely appealing. However, I soon found myself grappling with some of the issues raised by other readers.
### What Works Well
The strongest aspect of "The Surgeon's Studio" is its in-depth portrayal of medical procedures. The author's apparent expertise in the field shines through, making the surgical scenes feel authentic and engaging. Several readers have praised the realistic depiction of medical practices, disputes, and diagnoses. I also appreciated the focus on the MC honing his skills through practice and continuous learning, even with the system's assistance. The early stages of the MC forming a team around him and the exploration of patient's lives are also a big positive for me.
### Areas of Concern
My main reservation lies with the protagonist himself. While some find his dedication admirable, I found his passivity frustrating. Some readers have pointed out his seemingly naive and indecisive nature, making him appear like a pushover in certain situations. This aspect of his character, especially in the earlier chapters, detracted from my overall enjoyment. Furthermore, the presence of common Chinese web novel tropes like nationalism, face-slapping, and a perceived bias towards local products also dampened my enthusiasm. I also have to acknowledge the complaints about translation issues in the later chapters, including character genders being swapped and inconsistent names.
### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning
Some reviews mention that the MC gains an assistant who helps him deal with disturbances. Also, it seems like the system provides everything he needs, negating the need to move to a better hospital.
### Final Verdict
"The Surgeon's Studio" is a mixed bag. The detailed medical knowledge and glimpses into the lives of patients are definite strengths. However, the frustrating MC, coupled with prevalent web novel tropes and translation issues, holds it back. If you're a die-hard fan of medical dramas and can overlook these flaws, it might be worth a try. Otherwise, proceed with caution. I'd give it a tentative 3/5.
