Description

In our world there are objects that go by the name of “Relics”. Not antiques or items of classical art, but mysterious things like a stone that brings luck, a doll whose hair grows night after night, or a mirror that shows your future appearance. The world is big and so there happens to be a shop that offers such suspicious items — the Tsukumodo Antique Shop (FAKE). But as the name suggests, only fakes can be found there. To make matters worse, the shop assistant is a girl whose attendance couldn’t be blunter, so the store hardly has any customers at all. However, from time to time a real Relic appears and makes things interesting. Very well, now let us talk about those who have obtained one of these mysterious items.

Tsukumodou Kottouten Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Tsukumodou Kottouten "Tsukumodou Kottouten" is a hidden gem that I'm genuinely thrilled to have discovered. This series blends mystery, supernatural elements, and romance into a compelling narrative that kept me hooked. While it might show its age in a few ways, the core story and characters shine. ### First Impressions Initially, the premise of an antique shop dealing with both real and fake "Relics" – objects imbued with supernatural power – immediately grabbed my attention. The idea of ordinary people grappling with extraordinary, often dangerous, artifacts felt fresh and intriguing. I was also drawn to the interconnected storylines and the promise of unraveling mysteries within a modern-day setting. ### What Works Well The series excels in its character development. Tokiya, the seemingly average protagonist, Saki, his deadpan yet secretly shy coworker, and Towako, their eccentric boss, create a dynamic and often hilarious trio. Their interactions feel natural, almost like watching a comedic skit unfold. The romance between Tokiya and Saki is also well-executed, developing at a satisfying pace without overshadowing the main plot. I found the mysteries surrounding the Relics and their users to be consistently engaging. Each volume presents unique cases that delve into the consequences of wielding supernatural power, often with tragic outcomes. The author's passion for the subject matter is evident, and the stories are infused with a sense of wonder and danger. The later volumes especially ramp up the intensity, delivering plot twists and emotional moments that genuinely surprised me. The interconnectedness of the storylines is also a strong point, creating a sense of a larger, more complex world. ### Areas of Concern While I thoroughly enjoyed "Tsukumodou Kottouten," I did find the ending to be somewhat lacking. It felt a bit rushed and left some unresolved threads. The conclusion offers a temporary solution, hinting at future problems without providing a clear resolution. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Some plot points are discussed in this section. There are some inconsistencies within the plot. For instance, the reappearance of a character whose Relic was supposedly destroyed raises questions that are never fully answered. Similarly, a mysterious black curtain associated with death is introduced but never explained, leaving me wondering about its significance. ### Final Verdict Despite these minor flaws, "Tsukumodou Kottouten" is a captivating read that I highly recommend. The blend of mystery, supernatural elements, and romance is expertly balanced, and the characters are both relatable and intriguing. If you're looking for a series that will keep you guessing and emotionally invested, this is definitely one to check out.
