Description

On the day before his college graduation, Bai Fan’s ordinary life took an unexpected turn. Every night, he would possess an ab*sed child from the past. Gradually, he found out that the child’s soul was still there, but the child would only regain consciousness during the day, and the two could not directly contact each other. They rely on writing letters to exchange information, and support each other to go through difficulties. In a blink of an eye, ten years passed, the former child had grown into the leader of the Black Moon Sect. They are still living the day and the night separately. Bai Fan doesn’t know that the mind of the former child who never met him is gradually becoming twisted. He hates the injustice of God, he is never going to be able to meet the person he loves. Everyone around him can touch the one they love. He is the only one who has never heard his voice nor his smile. He can only suppress his jealousy. He can only know about him from other people. They are very close, but also very far apart, same as the distance between day and night.

Half a Sect Master Review & Spoilers - Novel Translator

## My Thoughts on Half a Sect Master "Half a Sect Master" promised a unique blend of modern slice-of-life with a xianxia twist, and for the most part, it delivered an entertaining, if somewhat uneven, experience. The premise alone, where the MC, Bai Fan, lives half his life in the modern world and the other half sharing a body with the ML in a wuxia setting, had me hooked. ### First Impressions The initial chapters were definitely the strongest. I was immediately drawn into Bai Fan's struggle to balance his two lives, learning calligraphy and martial arts in his "day" world to keep up with Yin Rui's progress in the "night" world. The dynamic between the two protagonists was compelling, with their dependence on each other forming the core of the narrative. ### What Works Well The story's strongest point is undoubtedly the relationship between Bai Fan and Yin Rui. The author did a decent job portraying their growing bond, and I found myself invested in their interactions. The comedic moments, especially those arising from the awkward situations caused by their shared body, were genuinely funny. There were some unique scenarios that I enjoyed, such as the aphrodisiac scene in the car. ### Areas of Concern However, as the story progressed, I felt that the plot became increasingly messy and the characters started to become inconsistent. The ML, Yin Rui, is portrayed as an extreme yandere, and while some readers might find that appealing, I felt that his actions were often over the top and lacked proper development. His motivations weren't always clear. The world-building in the xianxia setting was also underdeveloped, which was a shame, as it had the potential to add depth to the story. ### ⚠️ Spoiler Warning Several reviewers brought up significant plot points that might spoil the experience for new readers. One major point of contention is Yin Rui's yandere tendencies, which include manipulating, threatening, and even killing those he perceives as a threat to his relationship with Bai Fan. Some readers were also critical of Bai Fan's reaction to these revelations, finding it too accepting and lacking in emotional depth. There's also the matter of the "love rivals," including the shadow guard Yang Qi (Seven), who experiences both torture and affection related to the two leads, and the MC's friend, Lin Shuai, who ends up making a questionable decision due to his feelings for Bai Fan. ### Final Verdict Overall, "Half a Sect Master" is a fun and unique read, but it's not without its flaws. The intriguing premise and the dynamic between the main characters kept me engaged, but the underdeveloped plot and inconsistent characterization left me wanting more. If you're a fan of yandere MLs and don't mind a somewhat chaotic plot, this novel might be worth a try. However, if you're looking for a more polished and well-developed story, you might want to look elsewhere. I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars.
